Flame retardant kills fires in hidden dangers

Flame retardants play an important role in reducing fire hazards. For example, fire research scientist Jamie Grunlan said that if I don't use flame retardants in my living room, I would be very upset because there is a huge fire hazard. However, many ordinary people have little knowledge of flame retardants, and they are less aware of the importance of flame retardants.

Flame retardants are mainly used in transportation, electronics and electrical equipment, furniture, and building and building materials. Every day, we are “inseparable from it”. The circuit board of the computer is coated with a flame retardant, the plastic casing of the mobile phone is coated with a flame retardant, the flame retardant is used for the theater and the theater seat and the car seat, and the flameproofing agent is also applied to the exterior wall insulation material of the public building.

Therefore, relevant national fire protection laws and standards are mandatory to specify the corresponding plastic parts in electronic equipment, construction, and transportation. “Must be” to meet the flame retardant requirements, that is, flame retardants must be added.

It is reported that the role of flame retardants in fire safety has been confirmed. According to the European Commission, the use of flame retardants in the past 10 years has reduced the number of fire deaths in Europe by 20%. According to reports from Global Plastics, Asiana Airlines’ flight crashed in San Francisco in 2013. In 2005, Air France’s flight crashed in Toronto, due to the use of flame retardants in compliance with the US aviation industry’s fire safety seat. The requirements of chairs and cargo planes have allowed people to survive.

Therefore, the use of flame retardants in strict accordance with fire safety standards can meet the needs of social safety production and life, prevent fires and protect people's lives and property. As such, BASF is also actively using safer flame retardants in all polystyrene insulation materials in many countries around the world to further improve fire safety performance. BASF insulation solutions will be able to meet the future. Requirements for various sustainable building projects
